Outline of Post-Trade Courses

Competent, trained personnel are essential to gain maximum return from high technology capital equipment. Competent and knowledgeable staff will ensure:

  • minimum downtime of machines;
  • minimised repair costs; and
  • equipment reaching projected life spans.

The training needs of maintenance teams can be broadly divided into two areas. Firstly, there is a need for those individuals working in the industry to be familiar with fundamental (basic) products and systems that they will be exposed to in the workplace. In many cases this means retraining an existing work force when new machines or technology, which they have not been exposed to, are introduced.

Secondly, there is a need to provide training on specific product and equipment systems. This specialised training is designed to teach maintenance know-how as well as testing and diagnosis techniques.

A comprehensive suite of nationally recognised and accredited post trade learning programs is available to ensure trades people remain up to date with technical skills and current emerging technology.

The Caterpillar Institute (WA) Pty Ltd provides industry specific learning programs using new and emerging technologies direct from Caterpillar with immediate access to machines, components and simulators that will reinforce learning.
